We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s dynamic team in Manchester. This consultancy specialises in developer-led projects across mixed-use developments, residential, student accommodation, offices, and sports stadiums, with construction values ranging from £20m to £500m. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-profile projects while contributing to the growth and success of the cost management team.
Responsibilities:
Project Management:
* Lead all aspects of cost management from project inception to completion.
* Manage large-scale and/or multiple projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and expectations.
Team Development:
* Help manage and strengthen a high-performing cost management team.
* Support senior leadership with business planning and the pursuit of new opportunities.
* Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering their professional growth and enabling efficient service delivery.
Cost Management:
* Deliver high-level feasibility studies, cost estimates, and detailed cost plans across all design stages.
* Evaluate building designs and alternative proposals to maintain budget compliance.
* Prepare and issue tender documents and oversee the tender process.
* Analyse tender returns, provide client recommendations, and advise on procurement strategies.
Contract Administration:
* Advise clients on building contract terms and conditions.
* Provide financial reporting and monitor project status through regular meetings.
* Implement robust post-contract cost control measures, manage variations, and negotiate final account settlements.
Client Relations:
* Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and consultants.
* Ensure the highest standards of professional competence and service excellence.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential Requirements:
* Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar RICS-accredited course.
* Ideally a full membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
* Proven experience managing technically complex projects.
* Strong commercial awareness with exceptional negotiation and organisational skills.
* Articulate and capable of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships.
