R&D Technologist (Coating)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develop and launch new products (including duplications) for specified customers to achieve sales growth.

* Link design activity to business strategy by delivering innovative products within the constraints of the brief.

* Use sound commercial and technical awareness of our ingredients, processes and customer requirements to deliver ‘right first time’.

* Provide technical support to operations/logistics/purchasing for cost release, quality maintenance and improvement programmes.

* Interact with customers to support relationship building and customer intimacy strategy.

* Interact with suppliers and the general marketplace to ensure up to date ingredients and technologies are employed in new developments.

* Compounding of samples. Coating and cooking up products in application, working with meat & poultry ingredients will be required in a regular basis. Application of seasonings onto relevant base per Customer / Developer requests. Assist in preparing samples for research, shelf life testing, sensory, and other requirements. This will require use of fryers.

* Prepare and dispatch samples to customers globally meeting specific customs requirements for each country. Working with existing systems to create the necessary documents and liaising with International Trade Compliance team.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

* Food technology/Food Science Degree or Further educated to HNC or equivalent in a science subject.

* Driving license would be a plus.

* Similar role in a manufacturing environment working within Laboratory or Food Industry.

* Good written and verbal communication skills.

* Working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.

* PC literate as a minimum.

* Attention to detail.

* Ability to interpret analytical and microbiological data.

* Willing and capable to learn new skills.

* Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment.

* Effective Time Management Skills.

* Ability to work to tight deadlines and to deal with constant changes.
