Our client is a security and facilities management business with a portfolio of private and corporate clients of varying sizes. They are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a small, but fast-paced team in Borehamwood. This is an office-based role - please do not apply if you are looking for remote or hybrid work.

The Role:

As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple companies within the portfolio. Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director, you will support the business with sales and purchase ledger management, invoicing, bank reconciliations, credit control, and supplier payments. The role requires a proactive approach, the ability to think on your feet, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

* Sales Ledger: Raising invoices for multiple companies, including fixed billing and ad hoc invoicing.

* Purchase Ledger: Entering supplier invoices into the system, updating cash flow records, and preparing payment schedules.

* Banking: Recording daily bank payments and conducting monthly reconciliations.

* Credit Control: Chasing outstanding payments and ensuring invoices are paid within agreed terms.

* Reporting: Producing monthly figures for Directors and maintaining cash flow and budget sheets.

* Supplier & Customer Liaison: Handling payment run schedules, sending customer statements, and ensuring supplier invoices are correctly processed.

* System Management: Using Clear Books and LENS portals for invoicing and cost allocations.

* Compliance: Ensuring purchase orders are correctly raised and documented.

* VAT & Accounting Support: Liaising with accountants and providing monthly CSV statements for VAT reporting.

* General Finance Administration: Supporting with additional tasks as required by Directors.

What We’re Looking For:

* Strong experience in a similar finance/accounts role, ideally within a fast-paced environment.

* Demonstrable understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes.

* Proficiency in financial software (experience with Clear Books is a plus).

* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

* Ability to work independently most of the time and prioritise workload effectively.

* Strong communication and telephone skills for liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

This role is based in our Borehamwood office - please only apply if you are happy to work onsite full-time.

Experience

* Previous experience in a finance or accounting role is essential, along with a commercial mindset.

* Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and stakeholders.
