I am thrilled to partner with a market-leading regional contractor to find the next rising star in Quantity Surveying. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 6-18 months of experience or a recent graduate eager to launch their career in the construction industry.
The successful candidate will join a well-established contractor known for delivering projects across various sectors, with project values ranging from £2M to £40M. Working on both new build and refurbishment projects, you'll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment while collaborating with prestigious end-user clients and professional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Estimating & Budgeting: Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects, including gathering data from subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure precise cost forecasting.
* Tender Preparation: Support the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring that all documentation, such as pricing schedules and bid proposals, is completed to a high standard.
* Subcontractor Management: Assist in managing subcontractor contracts, including issuing inquiries, comparing quotations, and preparing procurement schedules. Ensure contracts are finalized and managed effectively to meet project timelines and budgets.
* Measurement & Valuation: Carry out accurate measurement of quantities from drawings and on-site inspections to support interim valuations and final accounts. Ensure all measurements comply with standard methods of measurement.
* Cost Control & Reporting: Support in monitoring project costs throughout the construction process, ensuring costs stay within budget. Assist in preparing financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVR) and forecasting reports for senior management.
* Variations & Change Control: Assist in managing variations and changes to the project scope by analysing their cost impact, negotiating with subcontractors, and providing detailed cost assessments for clients.
* Payment Certification: Assist in preparing interim payment applications and certifying subcontractor payments. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to avoid delays in cash flow.
* Risk Management: Work closely with the commercial team to identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project costs or schedules.
* Final Accounts: Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring all documentation is in place for a smooth project closeout.
Development Opportunities:
This role comes with a structured Personal Development Plan aimed at honing your skills and supporting your career growth. You will be exposed to a range of projects across multiple sectors and will benefit from close mentorship by senior Quantity Surveyors and commercial managers. The opportunity to work on both new builds and refurbishment projects will provide diverse, valuable experience, equipping you to progress within the company.
This is an exciting chance to shape your career with a contractor that values innovation, professionalism, and the development of its team members
