Contracts Manager (Waste-To-Energy)

Employment type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Hybrid - Split between WFH, Site visits (UK & Ireland) and office travel when required. Candidate must be based in the UK or Ireland.
Hours: 40 Monday-Friday
Salary: Circa £90,000-£100,000 sterling p.a. dependent on experience + annual discretionary 10% bonus, PMI, Income protection, Life Assurance & Pension

This role can be based in either the Republic of Ireland or the UK, allowing for a home-based setup with travel to project sites as needed.

We are working exclusively with our client who is dedicated to developing and operating large-scale biogas projects within the renewable energy sector across Ireland and the UK. They are on a mission to be a market leader, addressing environmental challenges and promoting a secure, sustainable future for clean energy. Currently, they are advancing an ambitious pipeline of biogas projects in both Ireland and the UK.

Role

A full-time, permanent opportunity has opened for a Technical Contracts Manager to join their expanding team, supporting the Head of Engineering and Construction. It's an exciting chance to work within a small, dynamic construction and engineering team, overseeing the development of large-scale projects from greenfield sites through to full production, with project values ranging from €50 to 150 million.

We seek a candidate with a strong background in contract drafting and management across multidisciplinary areas for process plant construction under EPC contracts, especially those requiring extensive mechanical and electrical work. The role will also involve oversight of civil, process engineering, and instrumentation and control elements.

Our client has active projects under EPC contracts in Ireland and UK. A framework agreement has been established with a leading EPC Contractor to manage the design and construction of the project pipeline. Beyond EPC contracts, our client also takes on Principal Contractor duties for enabling and plant modification projects, requiring effective contract oversight.

Example of Responsibilities:

Prepare technical specifications and define employer requirements for EPC contracts.
Oversee contract management on large-scale capital projects, supporting the Head of Engineering, Construction, and Project Manager in project execution.
Collaborate with the Head of Engineering, COO, and MD to ensure competitive procurement and effective management of the EPC Contractor.
Work in close coordination with key team members, including Operations Teams, to align project efforts.
Develop and oversee programs for both the pre-construction and construction phases.
Monitor progress of EPC Contractor and collaborate with in-house Engineering team and relevant parties to diagnose and develop contract scope solutions to issues arising.
Experience/ Skills Required

Familiarity with contract forms such as FIDIC, IChemE, NEC, and short-form contracts is essential.
Significant experience and proven track record of contract management of complex and significant infrastructure construction projects (experience in biogas/waste or water projects
advantageous).
Experience in procurement during the construction and commissioning stages would be advantageous, particularly for projects involving process plant construction.
Degree or equivalent qualification (reinforced by minimum relevant construction and commissioning experience) in the area of Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, Engineering.
Must have experience working with and developing contract programmes to P6 and MS Project and developing cost reports/progress reports to Engineering team.
