Position: Learning Support Assistant
Start Date: January 2025 (Term-Time Only)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
We are currently seeking Specialist Learning Support Assistants to join a specialized educational setting in Northumberland that serves children and young people aged 7-18.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs and learning challenges. You will work closely with teaching staff to help students develop independence, engage actively with the curriculum, and participate fully in the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support to students in a safe, welcoming, and stimulating learning environment.
* Assist with pupils who may present with challenging behavior.
* Understand and implement each student’s Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) and Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
* Adapt your support approach to meet the varying needs of vulnerable young people.
Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be UK residents living within the local area. Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for overseas applicants.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and other complex needs.
* Relevant academic qualifications (minimum GCSE level), or equivalent professional qualifications (such as NVQ Level 2), or demonstrable competence gained through relevant experience.
* Experience in a similar role or setting.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
