Are you our new AWS Platform Engineer (DevOps)?

We are seeking an experienced AWS Platform Engineer (DevOps) with strong DevOps experience to join our growing cloud infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud environments. You will play a key role in automating, optimising, and securing our cloud infrastructure to support our business needs and technical teams/goals.

As the successful candidate, you will be operating in a compliant multi-account cloud environment building packaged, reusable cloud products. Your focus will be on designing and enhancing highly interconnected systems, leveraging your exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and resolution skills. You'll independently tackle complex issues, contribute to technical discussions, and act as an escalation point for stakeholders. A thorough understanding of the relationships between cloud services, identity, and infrastructure is crucial, along with the ability to navigate standard change control processes. You will be adept at thinking creatively to devise workarounds prior to formal problem analysis. Effective decision-making and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

What you will do:

Drive CI/CD: Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, and other tools.

Automation first: Design and implement cloud infrastructure using CloudFormation to automate provisioning, alerting and scaling.

AWS Architecture: Build and maintain scalable, cost-effective, and secure AWS-based infrastructure (VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.).

Ensure Security: Implement security best practices, including WAF, Network Firewall, IAM, VPC, and data encryption, ensuring compliance and security standards.

Monitor & Optimise: Set up and manage monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., CloudWatch including Synthetic monitoring (canaries)) to ensure peak performance and cost-efficiency.

Collaborate: Work closely with development, DevOps, and IT teams to deliver a platform and cloud solutions that meet their needs.

Support innovation: the platform needs to adapt at a rapid pace to keep up with the demands of the business.

Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and other production issues.

Devoted to the FCA principle of Consumer Duty, by ensuring we are driving good customer outcomes across all aspects that have potential to impact our customers.

What we're looking for:

Strong experience in AWS Public Cloud development and implementation, particularly in automation and serverless architecture (AWS Lambda, API Gateway).
Proven experience in developing/coding in a production environment with efficient and scalable code/automation.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, YAML) and familiarity with code versioning tools.
Fundamental understanding of ITSM, ITIL, and continual service improvement.
Experience within the financial industry, including knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, FCA, GDPR).
AWS Certification preferred (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or similar).
Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate at a number of different levels. A passion for programming, automation, and exploring new ideas for streamlining development processes.
