Job Advert: Year 1 Learning Support Assistant 

Location: Primary School, Eccles, Salford
Contract: Long Term

Cover People are excited to recruit a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Eccles, Salford. This is a long-term role, offering an excellent opportunity to work closely with children, supporting their learning and development in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one or small group support to Year 1 pupils, helping them with literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.

Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.

Manage behaviour effectively and support students in developing positive relationships with their peers.

Lead a class independently for one afternoon a week, ensuring smooth classroom management and engagement.

Help create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages children to thrive.

Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff members to assess and monitor student progress.

Key Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children in a school environment, ideally within a Year 1 setting.

Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to lead a class confidently, particularly during the weekly afternoon sessions once a week.

A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to support and encourage children of varying abilities.

Excellent communication skills, both with children and colleagues.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
