Our Castle Douglas based clients are currently seeking a Herdsperson to add to their team of experienced professionals.

Working on their established Dairy Farm and reporting directly to the Herd Manager, you will be supporting in the day-to-day running of the dairy operation.

Duties include:

* Adhering to farm procedures, including the safe herding of cows from pen to milking parlour.

* Check pens and start the milking system, milk cooling, refrigeration, washing and feed system.

* Milking once a day as per rota.

* Prepare the dairy in readiness for the next milking according to the set guidelines.

* At the completion of milking, follow the procedures for plant cleaning and the shutdown process.

* All aspects of animal husbandry.

* All other duties as required.

* Highly motivated

* Strong work ethic

* No experience required, however experience within this field would be a distinct advantage.

* £12ph starting rate with salary reviews following initial probationary period

Hours of Work:

This role will include working on a 3-shift pattern;

* 4am – 12pm

* 12pm – 8pm

* 8pm – 4am
