Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Pharmacist to develop and enhance clinical pharmacy services within the Luton and Bedfordshire area. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the Trust’s clinical pharmacy standards, ensuring that the clinical service provided is of the highest quality and patient-focused. This role involves strategic planning, service development, and leadership to drive excellence in pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities:

* Service Development: Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services within the Luton and Bedfordshire directorates, ensuring alignment with the Trust's strategic goals and standards.

* Standards Implementation: Ensure that the Trust’s clinical pharmacy standards are effectively implemented and monitored, maintaining high-quality and patient-centered care.

* Clinical Leadership: Provide expert clinical leadership and support to pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

* Patient Care: Oversee the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care, including medication management, clinical interventions, and patient education.

* Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and allied health staff, to promote integrated patient care.

* Quality Improvement: Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research projects to advance clinical pharmacy practice and patient outcomes.

* Training and Development: Mentor and support the professional development of pharmacy staff, ensuring ongoing education and training in clinical pharmacy practices.

* Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, review, and update clinical pharmacy policies and procedures in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.

* Resource Management: Efficiently manage pharmacy resources, including staffing, budget, and equipment, to optimize service delivery.

* Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of clinical activities, interventions, and outcomes to support service evaluation and reporting.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy.

* Registration: Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

* Experience: Significant experience in clinical pharmacy, with demonstrated expertise in service development and leadership.

* Competencies: Advanced clinical skills, with the ability to implement and monitor high standards of pharmaceutical care.

* Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong leadership and management capabilities.

* Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing environments and work effectively under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

* Postgraduate Qualification: Further qualifications in clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, or healthcare management.

* Leadership Training: Additional training or certifications in leadership or management.

* Research Experience: Experience in conducting and leading clinical research or quality improvement projects.
