Location: Hybrid role – York base
Salary: £47,301 per annum + Benefits
Contract: Full time, permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week

Finance Operations Manager - The Role:
Advance HE is looking for a dedicated and detail-orientated team player to join us as we strive to make higher education the best it can be. Your focus will be on overseeing and holding accountability for the timely and accurate delivery of financial operations across the organisation – so whether you’re producing management accountants, preparing and supporting annual audits, or managing the excellent internal customer service and enquiry handling, you’ll be sure to make your mark at Advance HE.
As our Finance Operations Manager, you’ll manage the delivery and execution of high quality, compliant accounting inputs and output, whilst simultaneously reporting timely and accurate financial metrics. This includes effectively line managing six finance operations personnel and working closely with two Finance Business Partners, to ensure the effective, efficient, and customer-focused design, adoption/usage and continuous improvement of relevant systems and associated workflows. You will also lead process improvement initiatives, streamline systems and procedures, and optimise digital approaches.
This role is an exciting and variable one where one day you could be liaising with key external suppliers and internal stakeholders, and the next ensuring that operational and financial performance is developed to maximise the return on investment and operational delivery.
Finance Operations Manager - Knowledge, skills and experience:
We are looking for:
A Finance Operations Manager with strong clear communication skills, be able to manage multiple priorities, and be an effective problem solver. They should also be computer literate and have strong team leadership and people skills.
• Experience of financial operations and management of operations, including project-based accounting
• Experience in line management of multiple employees
• Experience of leading change, leading people through change and problem solving
• Experience of VAT returns (Partial Exemption VAT advantageous)
• Experience of external Audit and management of
• Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation, working with confidential and sensitive information
• Strong skills in using MS Office packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI, and Teams
• Qualified accountant, or studying final stages
