Production Engineer
Production Engineer - Job Role:
The Production Engineer position is diverse, requiring a variety of practical skills and office-based tasks. Situated in a production setting focused on creating printed circuit board assemblies, it is ideal for individuals with direct experience in supporting a PCB assembly operation.
This role is distinct from design engineering or service engineering positions.
Essential to this role are the manufacturing and process engineering abilities needed to support SMT machinery, manage conventional PCB assembly, and oversee the final box build assembly with a proactive approach.
Using customer-supplied Gerber, BOM, and CAD data to generate production machine programs is essential, producing shop floor work instructions is also considered key to this role.
Production Engineer - Responsibilities:
Converting customer-supplied data into programs for production machinery.
Competency with Computer Aided Manufacturing packages for printed circuit board assembly. (e.g. Circuit CAM, Factory Logics, Fuji CAM).
Knowledge of Printed Circuit Boards and components.
Respond to breakdowns and perform maintenance tasks.
Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach to breakdowns.
Experience working with SMT machines (Siemens desirable but not essential).
Ability to produce high-quality and accurate work instructions.
Knowledge of MS Office suite, Drawing packages, and Gerber data.
Experience in stencil design and ordering.
Familiar with ERP systems and BOM’s.
Knowledge of oven profiles and screen-printing process.
Liaise and communicate with other departments, managers, and customers.
Ability to plan and manage capital projects.
Producing operator assembly guides, production aids and jigs.
Confidence to deliver results independently and as part of a team.
Ensure product and process quality meets the required specifications.
Support the installation of machinery and equipment
Contribute to CI, NPI and DFM activities / Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Remuneration: up to £40k per annum depending on experience working
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:00-16:30 (half-hour lunch), Friday: 08:00-13:00 (no lunch)
