Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Timber Mill Operative to join the team in our Glasgow Timber branch in Maxwell Road, Glasgow, who is as passionate about great service as we are.

Hours: 39 hours per week - Mon-Thurs 8am-4:30pm, Fri 8am-3:30pm

What you'll be doing:
Our Timber Mill Operatives are very important to the smooth running of the business. Their role is important to help ensure products are where they need to be on time.
Get to know our product lines so you can offer advice and help to customers, making the most of all customer interactions in line with our Jewson Values
Carry out timber milling to customer specifications - able to understand measurements and customer requirements
Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in an Operational environment
Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment to be used
Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site
Ability to carry out routine inspections
Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role
Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation
What you'll need to have:
Previous experience in a similar timber mill environment preferred however training will be provided
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work accordingly
Confident working both indoors and outdoors
A health and safety focus
Comfortable in a role involving extensive manual handling of bulky items
