An opportunity has arisen for a Global Commodity Lead to join the Procurement department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About the role

Commodity managers play a critical role in Fortescue Zero’s supply chain process, overseeing the logistics related to the procurement of general inventory or a specific category of products. They create and oversee a plan for managing suppliers and seek opportunities to negotiate better deals or improve processes. You will also establish and cultivate relationships with partners, clients, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders.

You will support, establish, and develop a world leading supply chain to support Fortescue Zero & Green Fleet Applications, delivered correct to specification, to schedule and at minimum cost to support a multi programme demand.

What you will do:

Developing a commodity based supply chain that can support the Green Fleet demands
Managing and developing existing and new supplier relationship
Interfacing with Fortescue ZERO’s engineering teams to ensure supply chain strategy is implemented and provide input into engineering teams
Producing commodity strategies to showcase to the wider business
Developing supplier performance measures in conjunction with supplier quality assurance and logistics;
Creation of supplier performance data and working with supplier quality assurance team to ensure effective supplier development plans are in place and executed;
Conduct routine supplier audits and develop improvement plans with suppliers who fail to meet business requirements.
Preparation and issue of RFQ’s;
Managing internal stakeholders
Carrying out commercial negotiations, including design and development, tooling and piece price;
Supplier selection and nomination in conjunction with supplier quality assurance team;
Driving the VE/VA and DFM process with suppliers and engineering to achieve quality, cost and delivery targets;
Developing supplier performance measures in conjunction with supplier quality assurance and logistics;
Creation of supplier performance data and working with supplier quality assurance team to ensure effective supplier development plans are in place and executed;
Conducting routine supplier audits and develop improvement plans with suppliers who fail to meet business requirements;
Following the Purchasing Procedures of the company and maintain the working environment to levels consistent with the business;
Create, develop and continuously improve the business procurement processes and procedures within a multi programme environment;
Resolving vendor disputes and any commodity-related issues
About you:

MCIPS or studying towards MCIPS qualification is desirable.
Ability to review and understand technical proposals, technical drawings and specifications
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to work under own initiative and under pressure
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
Strong analytical skills allied with an ability and commitment to meet deadlines
The ability to establish strong relationships internally and externally
The ability to lead a team in reacting quickly to immediate operational requirements
Supplier visits are part of the role so a clean driving license is essential
Microsoft Excel and office skills
Excellent attention to detail
