Salary: - £54,793 - £60,326 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What you'll be doing:
As team leader, you will develop simulations for aircrew training simulators and manage a small team of Software Engineers to:
Define, derive and maintain requirements using DOORS
Define, derive and maintain UML design using ARTiSAN and/or other modelling-based design tools
Develop, integrate and test a variety of simulations both modelling airborne subsystem simulations and synthetic environment-based simulations in a variety of programming and scripting languages such as ADA, C, C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, Unity
Agree to and work to timescales, clearly understanding and providing regular feedback of progress and achievement
Communicate effectively, identifying early potential risks, seeking clarification, feedback and passing on guidance/tuition to team members with less experience
Ensure that a good working knowledge of Aircrew Training Simulation Systems related product deliverables is maintained and that an awareness of customer issues is also maintained
Understand and comply with BAE Systems Warton policies on security, IT facilities, operating procedures, absence and attendance, staff job time recording, health and safety and business ethics
Ensure progress is managed through the JIRA toolset
Report progress to Software Engineering Manager / Project Manager Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
A degree/HNC/HND in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience
Experience of the Software Engineering lifecycle
Knowledge of programming in various languages such as ADA, C, C#, Java, Visual Basic
Experience of managing teams of engineersDesirable:
Experience of handling Design reviews, supporting config management, with some knowledge of the Typhoon platformBenefits:

The Synthetic & Training Engineering Products Team:
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and self-confident Software Team Leader within the Synthetic & Training Engineering Team to take an active role in the development of High-Fidelity Aircraft Training Synthetic Simulation to support aircrew training requirements for the UK and overseas Customers. You will lead a small dynamic team, designing, developing, testing, integrating and maintaining the software solution.
Due to expected growth across the Synthetic & Training Engineering Team, you will lead a team developing aircraft simulation software in support of the delivery of a number of Typhoon High Fidelity Training Devices as part of the Typhoon Virtual Environment (TVE) Development for the UK and Qatar contractual programmes. The successful candidate will be exposed to the full software development lifecycle (design, code, test & integration). The position is fully funded under the TVE, UK & Qatar Contracts.
The successful candidate will be a proactive, self-motivated person who wants to lead a dynamic team developing cutting edge synthetic solutions for a broad range of Typhoon Customers. You will need the ability to lead, manage and support your team members in the delivery of the solution and will require effective communication skills, both written and verbal and be comfortable building relationships with all levels of stakeholders involved in the programmes.
There is the possibility of working on company business both domestically and abroad in support of the training devices.
