Mechanical Assembler company based in Bedford
We need a Mechanical Assembler who will assemble parts to make up finished assemblies in compliance with in-house and customer specifications. Experience in pneumatic-, hydraulic-, and mechanical assembly is required.
The company specialise in the design, manufacture and supply of advanced braking technologies for industrial applications. They offer the largest range of pneumatically-, hydraulically-, and mechanically-applied industrial disc brake callipers in the world, along with a full line of thrusters, disc brake systems, flexible couplings, and shafts clutch couplings.
Job role duties
• View the priority build board and select a kit of parts for the next assembly.
• Establish assembly operations from the parts list, working instructions and drawings.
• Check the kit for correct parts and refer to stores or supervision for any discrepancies.
• Operate overhead travelling gantry crane and provide a correct slinging procedure to load and transport large items.
• Assemble and test products to specification, referring to working instructions and drawings, using air guns and spanners, and paying particular attention to the cleanliness of parts.
• supervision report any error found in parts and problems leading to difficulty in assembly. Also, report any deficiency in tools or measuring equipment.
• Ensure required safety standards are adhered to and good housekeeping is maintained in the work areas. Use the PPE provided at all times. Report any health and safety concerns to supervision or the health and safety representative.
• Provide support for requirements of ISO 9001.
• To support the implementation of ABS, the continuous improvement process.
• To carry out production and operations-related tasks set by the Value Stream
Manager.
Basic salary up to £28,000. Overtime paid at time and a half, or double time, depending on shift

Standard working Shift patterns are 6 am to 2.30 pm Mon – Thurs and 6 am to 10.30 am Friday.
All the shop floor contracts have a clause which says our client may also need to run a second shift which would be 2.30 pm – 11 pm Mon – Thurs and 10.30 am – 3.00 pm Fri so they need to be able to work this shift too if required. Overtime available.
