Job Description – Mid - Senior Designer - D&B
Someone who can handle multiple projects and the pace of D&B.
CAD or REVIT is fine, CAD probably best. Use of Sketch up for sure – pitch designer!
Role and responsibilities
To be responsible for developing and managing all aspects Design Projects
from Pitch to Project completion.
To provide Design ownership to colleagues across the business and within immediate
teams, establishing the highest industry standards in design, and ensuring effective
ways of working within our teams at all levels.
To ensure our design DNA and output is continually developed and improved, and is
both highly commercial and hi-impact, contributing directly to the overall development
and profitability of our business.
The objective of this role is to ensure we produce innovative and industry shaping
Design Concepts, providing our Clients with ‘The best of the Best’ personalised service,
while supporting our internal team hitting technical standards and high quality project
execution. The aim is to ensure we are recognised for being an innovative,
knowledgeable and professional Design team to our customers, competitors and team
members.
Responsibilities and Scope:
To lead in Pitch Design- Produce, Present and win client pitches in a competitive
environment.
Responsible for Design from Initial Concept through to site completion.
To liaise and support Technical Design through Design Development phases.
Invest time and strategy into how to best drive performance of team standards
and KPI’s
To harness the overall Design Culture and be a leading voice within
the immediate team and wider company for all things Design & Innovation.
To work in partnership with our Commercial and Project Management team to
ensure alignment in design and project budget.
Liaison with Suppliers and Contractors.
To support our technical team through Design Development.
To be the storyteller and push boundaries of document narrative and Design
Development.
To be able to design to a set budget and have a strong understanding of the value
engineer process – such knowledge to be shared with wider team and junior
members supported in projects
Understand sales mentality – confident upselling of materials and furniture
items.
To understand and dissect a brief, and confidence to challenge client to give
them the outcome they need rather than what they believe they need.
To drive collaboration and ‘Blue Sky’ thinking within Packs,
Support wider team in the form of project collaboration and critique.
To maintain and champion Design standards, guidelines and strategies that
enable and complement our ‘Pack’ objectives and targets within the scope of our
business strategy.
To provide thought leadership in reaching our company mission of ‘Re-defining
the O-Word’ and lead by example.
Support Group D&C Director on the visual aspirations of our own home – our
showroom is a key sales tool.
Essential Professional Experience and key skills:
A track record of design leadership and excellence.
Highly developed customer acumen.
The proven ability to create a market for ‘internal and external’ for design
innovation and excellence.
A record of delivery to budget, accountability and experience of working across
all functions to achieve objectives.
