Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health and safety across our construction projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. This role involves working closely with site teams, management, and external bodies to foster a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Health and Safety Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety strategies and policies across all projects, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and company objectives.

* Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring corrective actions are taken.

* Risk Assessments: Lead the development and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring they are effectively communicated and understood by all relevant personnel.

* Training and Development: Organize and deliver health and safety training for employees, subcontractors, and site teams, ensuring everyone is aware of their responsibilities and equipped to work safely.

* Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

* Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, preparing and submitting reports to regulatory bodies as required. Maintain accurate records of all health and safety activities.

* Health and Safety Culture: Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company, encouraging proactive reporting and engagement with safety initiatives.

* Liaison with Authorities: Act as the main point of contact with regulatory bodies, clients, and other external stakeholders on health and safety matters.

* Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry developments, health and safety standards, and best practices, ensuring continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager in the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.

* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices in construction.

* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.

* Chartered Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or working towards it.

* Experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.

* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage site teams and management.

* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites and prioritize tasks effectively.

* Proficiency in health and safety management software and tools.

* A valid UK driving license is required for site visits.

Working Conditions:

* Based in Watford with frequent travel to project sites in surrounding counties and London.

* Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project locations.
