About the role
The Health and Safety Adviser (People) role at Haringey Council is a critical fixed term position (covering maternity leave) responsible for providing competent and professional health and safety advice and support to Council services to ensure continuous improvement in performance. You will be empowered to support the Senior Health and Safety Adviser (People) by supporting the development, implementation, promotion, review and monitoring the Councils Health and Safety Management Systems and associated policies and procedures.
As an integral part of the team, you will have the chance to work closely with professionals from diverse departments, gaining invaluable exposure to the inner workings of a dynamic and impactful organization. About you
We are looking for a proactive health and safety professional to support council services across various locations, including offices, libraries, shelters, and residential care settings.
The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and GradIOSH membership, with experience advising on health and safety in the public sector or large multi-site organisations. They should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to occupational health and safety legislation, accident prevention, and compliance.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining discretion in handling sensitive information, ensuring the smooth and secure operation of health and safety processes.
