Are you an experienced Site Engineer with a knack for proactive maintenance and a strong commitment to health and safety? Our client, a leading player in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a dedicated Site Engineer to ensure their factory equipment is always ready for production, meets technical standards, and aligns with health and safety requirements.
Role Overview
As Site Engineer, you’ll be the key figure in developing and implementing a thorough planned preventative maintenance program for all factory equipment. This hands-on role demands expertise in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, a proactive approach to tackling breakdowns, and excellent coordination with both internal teams and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Preventative Maintenance: Create and uphold a preventive maintenance system, considering technical manuals and manufacturer guidelines, and update it regularly. Ensure factory electrical and mechanical equipment is maintained to high standards.
Reactive Maintenance: Act swiftly in the event of equipment failure, conduct root cause analysis for breakdowns, and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Flexible response outside regular working hours when urgent issues arise.
Contractor Coordination: Oversee work schedules with external contractors, ensure compliance with the permit-to-work system, and verify that tasks are completed satisfactorily.
Health & Safety: Champion health and safety protocols, ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed, and act as the engineering lead during food safety incidents. Additional Responsibilities
Technical Support: Assist production as required, conduct portable appliance testing, complete stock checks, and maintain the repair and maintenance budget.
KPI Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to preventative maintenance, breakdowns, and improvement requests.
Collaborative Improvement: Complete improvement tasks in partnership with the production team and actively engage in weekly meetings with management to review and prioritize tasks. Qualifications & Personal Attributes
Proven experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment
Strong organisational and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise across departments and with external suppliers
Safety-conscious, adaptable, and self-motivated with a “can-do” attitude
