Electrical Commissioning Engineer Role

Our Client
Is a leading specialist in the operation, maintenance, service and management of anaerobic digestion plants.
Their experienced team has grown to over 50 employees, 8 operational AD plants in the UK, over 20 service agreements throughout the UK and Ireland, a dedicated operational support and service team as well as a large workshop with stock holding facilities. They have built up an extensive infrastructure to optimise performance, covering all elements of AD servicing, operations and maintenance.

Job Summary:
Our Client is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join their team.
Focusing on the commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems in the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PLC programming, with specific expertise in Siemens STEP 7 and WinCC, to ensure the successful integration of electrical and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning of Electrical Systems:
• Oversee and execute the commissioning of electrical and control systems within anaerobic digestion plants.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful installation and integration of equipment.

PLC Programming and Testing:
• Program and modify Siemens STEP 7 PLC systems to meet project-specific requirements.
• Develop, configure, and troubleshoot WinCC HMI interfaces.
• Ensure all control systems are correctly programmed, tested, and optimized for reliable operation.
• System Integration and Troubleshooting:
• Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical and automation systems.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, including working with field devices, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Work closely with software engineers, project managers, and site technicians to ensure full system functionality.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Produce detailed commissioning plans, testing protocols, and operational manuals.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, project specifications, and health & safety regulations.
• Prepare commissioning reports and provide feedback for continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Training and Support:
• Provide technical support to clients and site operators during the commissioning phase and post-installation.
• Offer hands-on training for operators on the use of electrical systems and control interfaces.

Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications or training in Siemens STEP 7 and WinCC programming.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably within the Anaerobic Digestion or renewable energy sector.

Technical Skills:
• Expertise in Siemens STEP 7 PLC programming and WinCC HMI development.
• Knowledge of industrial control systems, SCADA systems, and field devices.
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations within the AD sector.
• Proven track record of commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting complex control systems in industrial environments.

Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
