JOB OVERVIEW

The Product Development Specialist’s key purpose is to develop and manage company’s products, mainly to enhance data centre connectivity to ensure customer satisfaction. Products include: colocation products (racks, power, cooling) and upsell products (NW, solution). Working with multi-functional teams, lead and manage the life cycle of a product, conducting market research, market survey and customer survey, creating the business plan, liaising, and managing third party partners (including the HQ in Japan). Supporting the Legal team in preparing contracts and service description operating flows.

Key tasks:

The Product Development Specialist will be responsible for seeking and developing growth opportunities of the company’s services and products. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following job functions:

Contribute to and prepare service and product plans for the company to enhance its DC connectivity business, supported by market research. Scanning market intelligence exploring business opportunities.

To coordinate service and product plans collaborating with business partners.

To improve company’s existing product offerings, understanding latest customer needs and market trend.

Project Management: to proactively and professionally manage the entire “project cycle” from lead generation and lead management to prospecting, arranging appointments, preparing proposals and presentations, negotiating, closing and handing over new partnership developments to the business.

Analysis: to provide analysis on optimal options based on accurate analysis on Pros/Cons. Analysis should be based on the acquired information and results such as sales trend. In addition, visualization of potential risks and clarification of risk levels.

To support company’s service and product partnerships with 3rd party companies, pre- and post- launch, assisting them in accomplishing their individual business commitments.

Responsible for products and services including defining service conditions, developing and managing order and operation process, and documentation.

Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Essential requirements:

Educated to degree level in a Business Administration or Economic subject

Experience for Product Development for ICT business or data centre

Experience for Project management which including the external members.

Evidence of delivering significant financial and non-financial benefits to a commercial organisation.

Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of identifying, managing and closing new business opportunities

Proficient analytical skills and a measured approach to decision making.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, within the business and with suppliers.

Collaborative approach – ability to work effectively with internal & external stakeholders to motivate and effectively manage key suppliers

Highly organised and good business planning skills, including financial business case preparation

High level of written and verbal presentation skills.

Positive outlook / excellent commercial sense; attuned to different cultures and flexibility to travel abroad on business trips on occasion

Desirable requirements:

Proficiency in Japanese languages – having weekly meetings with Japan HQ in Japanese

Commercial and business development experience and practice drawn from other sectors

UK business knowledge of the ICT sector in UK and EMEA; the local competitors, regulators, personalities and players

Data centre-related experience
