We are currently seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently on the preparation of tenders ranging from a few thousand pounds up to few million. Our company operates primarily in the residential, commercial, social housing, and education sectors across London and the South of England.

About the Role: Based at our head office in Romford, Essex, you will work closely with our Special Works and Major Projects departments. Our diverse project portfolio includes both new builds and historically significant buildings, offering variety in your day-to-day work. You’ll be part of a collaborative team of professionals and will engage in the full estimating process—from initial enquiries to tender submission. You will also liaise closely with clients, architects, and engineers, ensuring each project is accurately costed and well-managed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site visits and surveys for proposed construction projects.
* Analyse project plans and specifications.
* Extract information from drawings and tender documents to calculate costs for materials, labour, plant, and sub-contract packages, in line with the agreed program of works.
* Obtain quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
* Prepare tenders for review by directors.
* Submit tenders and address any post-tender queries or value engineering proposals.
* Occasionally provide commercial support on live contracts, including pricing variations, preparing valuations, and assisting with subcontract placements.
Candidate Requirements:
* Strong background in construction, with hands-on experience in estimating.
* Comfortable with estimating from first principles and producing Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Work.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-working abilities.
* Proficient in relevant computer applications.
* Ability to represent the company professionally in all interactions.
