The Role:

As an External Audit Senior, you will be responsible for leading audit assignments from start to finish, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior team members. You will play a key role in ensuring that audits are carried out to the highest standards, while meeting client deadlines and delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading external audits from planning through to completion, including fieldwork and reporting.

Preparing and reviewing audit work papers and financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.

Conducting risk assessments and identifying key areas of audit focus.

Supervising and mentoring junior auditors, providing guidance and technical support.

Managing client relationships, acting as the key point of contact during audit engagements.

Ensuring audits are completed within deadlines and budget requirements.

Liaising with clients to discuss audit findings, address queries, and offer recommendations for improvements.

Reviewing internal controls and identifying opportunities for process improvements within client organisations.

Keeping up to date with changes in audit regulations and accounting standards.

Assisting in business development activities, including identifying potential cross-service opportunities with clients.

Requirements:

ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience in external audit within an accountancy practice.

Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards and financial reporting frameworks (UK GAAP and IFRS).

Proven experience in managing audit assignments from planning to completion.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines.

Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.

Proficiency in audit software and accounting systems such as CaseWare, Xero, or Sage.

A proactive approach with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and assess risks within audits.
