Job Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join a growing practice at either Principal or Senior level, depending on experience. This role involves working on a diverse range of projects, including commercial, public sector, and hospitality developments, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and net-zero carbon solutions.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will manage projects ranging from small-scale developments to major £100m+ schemes. The role is both technical and client-facing, requiring expertise in mechanical building services design and project management.
Key Duties:

Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Act as a client liaison, handling both technical and commercial aspects of projects.

Contribute to business development efforts and client relationship management.
*
Support senior leadership in project planning and resource management.
*
Lead the mechanical design team in project coordination and delivery.
*
Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team.
*
Provide technical guidance and support to engineering disciplines involved in project delivery.
*
Manage commercial aspects of projects, including budgeting, bidding, and financial tracking.
*
Produce detailed engineering designs using Designbuilder, Designmaster, AutoCAD, and Revit software.
Required Experience & Skills
*
Educational Qualification: BEng or MEng degree in a relevant field.
*
Professional Accreditation: Chartered Engineer status and membership of professional bodies such as MCIBSE or MIMechE (or working towards).

Experience: Minimum of 5 years (ideally 10) of UK-based post-graduate experience in design consultancy.

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical building services design, technical requirements, legislation, and best practices.

Commercial Awareness: Experience monitoring financial performance on projects and ensuring targets are met.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities.

Soft Skills: A proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to confidently engage with clients and colleagues.
