Job Purpose:

Working for Norfolk’s biggest NHS trust, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Developer in the design, development expansion and maintenance of the trust’s ‘data warehouse’ and Business Intelligence (BI) systems.

To undertake complex technical work liaising with system owners and specialists in designing the ‘data warehouse’ to ensure that it meets the needs of all users. Ensure that thorough documentation and change control processes are in place, are accessible and are maintained. Proactively manage the integrity and quality of data within the Trust data warehouse: investigating, raising and resolving issues with the system owners where necessary

To work with informatics colleagues to develop and implement new information reports, flows and systems that meet the operational and strategic needs of the Trust and their stakeholders. Undertake the specification, design and implementation of technical reports using systems such as, but not limited to, T-SQL, SSRS and SSI

The post holder will be a subject matter expert. They will develop and deliver training for informaticians. This will include technical training on BI software and languages as well as requirements gathering, specification design and implementation.

Overview of Essential Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the supporting the maintenance and development of the data warehouse including the design and implementation of automated Data Extract, Transformation and Load processes to meet new and changing requirements.

* Based on customer consultation design functional specifications for development work. Using creative and problem solving skills, support the changing information requirements of the trust through the design, development, creation and deployment of data warehouse tables and other BI developments.

* Work with the wider informatics team in the documenting workflow and designing specification of new BI solutions including, but is not limited to, new data warehouse tables/views, Visualisations, R and Python development.

* Development and deployment of pro forma and report templates to support efficient table and report design and development across the trust.

* Identify, investigate and resolve problems in the production of routine and ad-hoc reports and ensure all work is fully validated and quality assured prior to distribution and that reports meet the end users need. Unresolved discrepancies must be reported to the senior management.

* Undertake continued data validation and maintenance of the data warehouse, ensuring that any core system changes are communicated to you, and are implemented, as appropriate, within the data warehouse.

* System administration of Business Intelligence software including the monitoring of usage and compliance.

* Development of applications (web and non-web) to support data capture.

* Produce and deliver comprehensive training material to develop and maintain a high level of skills and abilities across the team. Ensuring that technical BI skills are shared and developed. Teach, tutor and, coach, formally or informally as required to ensure effective use of the BI systems.

* Regularly evaluate performance and development needs, escalating exceptional performance and/or any concerns to the senior analyst.

What you need for this position:

* Ideally demonstrable experience in a similar role

* Significant experience working and developing with Microsoft BI solutions (including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS);

* Experience of developing ETL routines, working with dimensional data base design and management and reporting solutions

* Sound understanding of data quality management principles and best-practice.

* Experience of PowerBI, R, Python and/or VBA

Please note this role will be worked on a hybrid basis with ideally working on site in the offices for 1/2 days a week
