Pastoral Learning Assistant
The Pastoral Learning Support Assistant will play a key role in supporting the emotional and pastoral well-being of students, ensuring they are happy, engaged, and ready to learn. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to provide tailored support for students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
Key responsibilities for a Pastoral learning Assistant include:
Supporting students in their academic and personal development, with a focus on their emotional well-being and mental health.
Providing one-on-one and group support sessions for students, helping to address any barriers to learning and engagement.
Assisting in the creation and implementation of personalised learning plans and intervention strategies.
Offering advice, guidance, and support to students in both formal and informal settings.
Promoting positive behaviour and attitudes, and helping to create a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
Liaising with teachers, pastoral leaders, and parents/carers to monitor student progress and well-being.
Supporting students in overcoming social and emotional difficulties, with a focus on building self-esteem and resilience.Person Specification:
Experience working with young people, ideally in a pastoral or educational setting.
A strong understanding of child development, mental health, and well-being.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
The ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for helping students overcome obstacles and succeed academically and personally.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
