Experienced Aerospace Welder
Salary - £36,837.50
Shift - Early Shift Monday - Thursday 6am-14:15pm Friday 6am - 12pm

Role Summary
A skilled and experienced aerospace welder to be part of the Press Shop & Heat Treatments department. The successful applicant will be an Aerospace approved welder and have completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in engineering processes such as mechanical or aeronautical engineering and have basic understanding of materials utilised in the aviation industry and related processes.
Essential Responsibilities
EHS - Promote a safe workplace environment without risk to health and minimising the impact to the environment. Ensure that all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and that all accidents and incidents are reported
Clocking and Booking - Ensure that all required clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings) are made in an accurate and timely manner
Housekeeping - Ensure that workstations are kept clean and maintained, with all tools and equipment stored correctly. Uphold a clear desk policy
Quality - Ensure that all Quality standards, processes and procedures are complied with. All work is completed with care and attention minimising wastage
Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives through reducing unnecessary expenditure
Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations to the best of your knowledge and belief to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s) to be kept up to date
Team Working - Must actively participate in team meetings and be prepared to share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees when required, be willing to be trained in other areas
Role Specific
Will include but is not limited to:
Aerospace approved welder having completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification, ideally a Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.
Actively partake in training other personnel in welding and be the sites subject matter expert in welding / brazing.
The ability to manually TIG weld various types of metallic components including aluminium alloys, in accordance with aerospace standards.
Must have the capability to carry out manual brazing and welding techniques on light gauge aluminium alloys.
Undertake other welding methods to support the business when necessary.
Set up and operate automatic seam welding equipment and undertake any necessary post weld validation.
To operate as part of a team and working closely with quality and engineering and assist in the generation of Standard Operating Procedures.
To adopt a positive 'can do' attitude to problem solving.
Process, interpret and evaluate components to customer drawings and specifications.
Will be subject to successful approval of periodic welding test pieces as required.
Must be able to be prepared to share knowledge, train when required, holding a TA stamp to over stamp work and be willing to be trained in other areas

Proven understanding of engineering documents.
Basic IT skills.

To be able to work with minimal supervision.
Have had experience in training / mentoring others in welding techniques.Security Clearance
Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security
