Audio Project Design Engineer (931)
• Location: Cranfield
• Pay: £29.00 per hour
We are recruiting an Audio Project Design Engineer for a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role with the potential to last several years.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage in-development and in-production parts and suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Oversee the Bill of Materials (BOM) and conduct digital and physical layout checks for audio components, such as speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and other infotainment systems.
• Collaborate with external partners to manage tuning parameters and implement them into unit configuration data.
• Conduct checks in production facilities to ensure fitment and production efficiency.
• Perform design reviews at key milestones to ensure projects meet deadlines.
• Ensure design releases are completed on time.
• Achieve annual cost reduction targets.
• Provide support to the manufacturing plant when required.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
Skills:
• Experience in manufacturing BOM management (advantageous).
• Proficient in Office 365 tools (including intermediate/advanced Excel skills).
• Demonstrate practical experience in problem-solving tools and techniques, with a strong mathematical foundation.
• Experience in speaker and audio components design, including wiring and vehicle tuning.
• Knowledge of vehicle communication networks, such as CAN, LIN, and A2B.
• Familiarity with vehicle electrical/electronic architectures.
• Experience in supplier management, particularly in audio-related fields (desirable).
• Proficient in vehicle layout skills and knowledge of Teamcentre/NX CAD (desirable).
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible with working practices and hours.
• Able to prioritise and multitask across multiple projects simultaneously.
Hours & Pay:
• Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
• Hourly rate: £29.00 p/h
