About the company:

Our client is a Tier One Main Contractor who is currently operating with a turnover of £20 billion, across the whole group and £100M in the UK. They have offices worldwide; in the UK, their head office is based in the West Country and they have local depots based in London, the West Midlands, and Yorkshire. Their overall specialism in the UK is large Civil Engineering and infrastructure projects, across rail, tunnelling, highways, and bridges. They have worked on large schemes such as Crossrail (Tunnelling & Station upgrades), London Power Tunnels, M4 improvement schemes, Queensferry Crossing & Tottenham Hale Station.

About the opportunity:

Due to company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Bid Manager who has experience of working in the civil engineering infrastructure sector. Reporting directly in to the Head of Bid Management, you will plan and manage the bid response process and deliver submission documents in line with the requirements of each tender and in keeping with the bid budget. General duties will include the following:

* Coordinate the overall bid submission process, ensuring they are on time and to the highest standard

* Develop a bid strategy and win plan to maximise chances of winning upcoming projects at commercial sustainable rates

* Plan and co-ordinate bid responses for all submissions including reviewing bid text and contribute to and plan drafts of text for the submission as required

* Produce and agree the bid programme, identifying key dates for the submission of information, review dates, deadlines and production of bid, whilst assuming a full understanding of the bid deliverables

* Organise the review of submissions against client requirements

* Produce and manage of presentations

* Manage tender programme

* Attend project briefings, mid-tender and post-tender meetings as required

* Manage any pre-construction design requirements for the tender and manage design; Propose alternative design solutions if required and maintain a knowledge of alternative technical solutions

* Review successful and unsuccessful submissions and promote continuous improvement

As a Bid Manager, you will be joining a highly professional, experienced team who have been with the company for several years. You will be working in a team that consists of other Bid Managers, Bid Coordinators, Bid Writers, and liaise closely with the Estimating team. A lot of the Pre Construction team come from an Engineering background so you’ll be working with technically minded professionals who hold a wealth of knowledge on how things are built, which should continue to improve your development. Due to the long-term stability of the members of staff within the Pre-Construction team, my client is looking for a professional who can bring fresh ideas and new ways of thinking to help them on their tenders. The Pre-Construction team are extremely friendly, sociable, and they have a strong family feel about them.

About the benefits and rewards:

For this permanent opportunity, my client is looking to target professionals looking to earn anywhere from £70,000 to £80,000 per annum, however specific salary will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package on offer which includes a company vehicle or allowance, private health care, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and a 8% employer pension contribution.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must hold a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Bid Manager whilst working for a Tier one main contractor within the civil engineering infrastructure sector. As this is an office based opportunity, you must reside within commutable distance from their office in Marylebone, London and as this is a permanent opportunity, you must be able to demonstrate stability of employment
