Lemon Drizzle Recruitment has been appointed to recruit a Business Development Manager for a principal contractor based in the North East of England. This is a fabulous opportunity to open a new regional office in Leeds for this contractor and build a team around you. Your success in this position will be a catalyst for the growth of the office.
An introduction to the Company and what it’s like to work for them
This is a modern principal contractor who specialise in fit out/refurbishment projects ranging from 100k – 8m within the education, workplace, health and leisure sectors. They’ve been established for 17 years and have a solid client portfolio across the north but would like to develop their presence and brand further on Yorkshire and Humber. What you’ll be doing and be responsible for
The main purpose of the role is to develop and maintain client relationships across the Yorkshire region. You will promote the business and open doors, creating opportunities to showcase how this contractor operates.
* Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets
* Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation
* Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
* Meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone
* Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients
* Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
* Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
* Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them
* Ensure staff are on board throughout the organisation, and understand the need for change and what is required of them
* Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
* Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
* Keep abreast of trends and changes in the construction world.
* Help to plan sales campaigns
* Create a sales pipeline
* Increase sales of the business
* Develop the business sales and marketing strategy
Who is this role ideal for and equally not a good fit for?
It will work if you are……
* Experienced BDM, with a network within the main contracting construction industry in Yorkshire – preferably fit out.
* Self-starter, works under own steam with little or no supervision.
* Natural business developer, unphased by cold calls/making introductions.
It probably won’t work if you…..
* Only feel comfortable representing a well-known brand.
* Need daily management and supervision.
* Have no or little understanding of construction fit out, competitors, timelines and costs.
