Butler Ross are supporting a long-term client in the automotive sector, who are looking to recruit a Technical Buyer to support their team on an interim basis. This is a hybrid-working position with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days a week and offering a day rate of £(Apply online only)/ day Umbrella Rate. Ideally the client would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing the commercial relationship with the suppliers
Negotiating contracts (when and where required), improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
Identify cost reduction, VA/VE opportunities and lead the commercial element
Ensuring a continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with the specified cost, quality and delivery targets
Developing ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
Assessing and evaluating suppliers and undertaking performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and managing performance improvement activities
Researching and building working relationships with new suppliers and subcontractors
Supporting product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
Reviewing and implementing processes

Ideally you will have:

Experience working in an automotive or technical manufacturing environment
Experience of stakeholder management
Experience in supplier/customer relationship management
Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment and experience in leading cost reduction activities
Experience sourcing injection moulding parts/components (or similar comparable experience)
An ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings
