Teaching/Learning Support Assistant
Location:
Bognor
Job Title:
Learning Support Assistant
Hours:
Full-time (Term Time)
Start Date:
January (with the opportunity to meet the school beforehand)
A primary school in Bognor is seeking a Learning Support Assistant with
robust, hands-on SEN experience
to join their team from January. This is not a role for someone looking to gain initial exposure; the school requires a candidate who can confidently draw upon significant prior experience supporting children with a range of additional needs. Whether gained in a school setting, care environment, or other areas working with vulnerable individuals, your background must demonstrate a strong understanding of how to effectively engage and support pupils requiring extra help.
The chosen candidate will assist children who face barriers to learning, adapting resources and teaching approaches to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. If you have proven success in SEN-focused roles, this is an excellent opportunity to bring your skills to a dedicated, supportive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of SEN needs, ensuring their inclusion in classroom activities.
Implement tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by teachers and the SENCo.
Assist in developing children’s social, emotional, and communication skills.
Adapt resources and approaches to meet individual pupil needs, helping them access the curriculum.
Monitor and record progress, communicating observations to relevant staff members.
Contribute to creating a nurturing and structured classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence, and positive attitudes to learning.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN (this can be from a school, care, or other relevant setting).
Ability to use initiative, remain flexible, and adapt approaches to meet the needs of each child.
Strong communication skills, working effectively as part of a team and building rapport with pupils.
Understanding of strategies to support children with varying needs, including difficulties with communication, social skills, or behaviour.
A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Relevant qualifications in SEN or child development are desirable but not essential.
If you have the experience and commitment to help children achieve their potential, apply now and take the first step towards joining a dedicated school community in Bognor!
