The Bishops Caundle Community Shop (BCCS) is a community owned and run village store offering a wide range of food and household staples. The purpose of the shop is to serve and meet the needs of the local community whilst generating a modest profit that can be utilised in three ways:

* Allow a healthy reserve to be held in place to pay for unforeseen shop-related expenses

* Allow investment in improving the operation and facilities of the shop itself

* Allow investment in other community focussed projects

The overall business of the shop is overseen by a Management Committee comprised of locals from professional backgrounds who volunteer their time to ensure that the shop is run efficiently, ethically and sustainably whilst meeting the above objectives.

The day to day operation of the shop is overseen by a Shop Manager who reports to and works closely with the Committee.

We are now seeking a Shop Manager to replace the existing Manager who is moving into a different industry.

Working alongside a part-time employee, our enthusiastic volunteers and with the support of a Management Committee, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of a truly social enterprise. Your commitment & aspirations for the role in the community will need to be balanced with the need for successful commercial performance. As well as working in the shop you will take responsibility for the day to day running of the business, stock control, and financial management.

Previous retail experience is essential although training and guidance will be provided on the specifics of the BCCS operation.
