Opportunity:

Are you looking to gain further team leadership and project management skills in an Ecological setting? This new role could be the role for you. Our newest opportunity comes from a client based in Manchester looking to bring in a new Senior Ecologist to help lead and coordinate their ecology team across a range of engaging and challenging projects. The client is a consultancy firm that combines landscape design with ecology, focusing around BNG, landscape planning & design and urban design. They work with a huge variety of clients and subsequently projects across the country, meaning you'll always have something new keeping the work fresh and enjoyable. As previously mentioned, you'll have plenty of opportunities to develop both your team and project management experience whilst working with a diverse team of professionals.

Responsibility:

Being the new Senior Ecologist on the team, your responsibilities will have a technical focus alongside the project and team management aspects. As Senior Ecologist, you will be expected to undertake a variety of surveys and assessments, such as habitat and protected species surveys, and produce associated technical reports. Outside of your practical skills, as Senior Ecologist you will be leading multiple projects from initial conceptualisation through to completion, acting as a main point of contact liaising with clients, writing and reviewing reports relating to your projects and contributing to overall business development by maintaining and strengthening client relationships. You'll also oversee the management & organisation of contractors and seasonal ecologists as and when required, as well as acting as a mentor for the existing in-house junior team members.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Senior Ecologist role, there is a number of conditions that will need to be met before being able to join this technical team. Firstly, you will need to have at least 3 years of experience as an Ecologist within a consultancy setting, with strong working experience carrying out a range of surveys and assessments and producing technical reports. Secondly, you'll need a working knowledge of EIA and planning processes, as well as EPSL license documentation and EcIAs. On top of these base requirements, you'll also need to have some experience with BNG assessments, liaising with clients, project management and be a member of a relevant professional body such as CIEEM with a full UK drivers' license and happy to work away from the office. Some desirable characteristics that will help your application would be possession of protected species licenses (particularly Bat licenses and GCNs) and some team/line management experience.
