Our client is an independent and global management-led Facility Management company operating in 40+ countries, with over 800 employees and thousands of suppliers. They manage facility services, FM helpdesk and FM consultancy including consultancy for HSE and sustainability within the built environment and for clients property portfolios.

As part of client’s global FM organization you will be their global sustainability lead, ideally based in their London hub in the UK.
You will be accountable for:

Leading the development of sustainability strategy, certifications and delivery plan, reporting into the QHSEW Director.
Manage the company's carbon footprint reduction programswaste management and single use plastics (SUP) initiatives.
Supporting the delivery of sustainability and social value services to existing clients (currently delivered by ~6 FTEs contracted via an external partner organisation), delivering measurable outcomes for clients.
Supporting the work winning team with sustainability work scopes and RFPs for existing and new clients.
Enhancing the sustainability consultancy service offer and identifying and bringing new service offers and products to market.
Representing the company attending internal and external events to raise the profile and their sustainability services.
We are seeking someone with a passion for sustainability and social value, a technical bias for delivering results, and the ambition and drive to lead the development of our sustainability strategy and to scale up the delivery of sustainability services to clients.
You are someone who is:

Technically strong – has technical knowledge and can demonstrate delivery of results on energy efficiency, carbon reduction and water reduction projects for existing buildings and FM services, whilst also having a good working knowledge of additional sustainability services such as social value and waste management and recycling..
Creative – able to research new technologies and respond to new and changing market demands and opportunities.
an Engaging Communicator - articulate and open, and comfortable when representing the company with clients and external forums.
·Thinks Big – can view things from different perspectives, thinks strategically, simplifies concepts to solve or communicate complex problems.
Drives Change – through your ability to lead others and adopt different solutions, act decisively with a passion to achieve results.
Develops Others – in building a team of sustainability experts as well as upskilling and creating opportunities for colleagues, where motivational skills are essential.
Collaborates - by building trusted relationships and sharing knowledge through collaboration with facility operations, projects teams and business development and central teams, where integrity is essential.
Commercially Astute – able to understand commercial drivers and deliver commercial benefits for our clients
You will have hands-on experience in delivering the above and are at a point in your career where you are ready to manage a team and develop strategy, whilst still being willing to roll-up your sleeves.
Since the sustainability space is evolving rapidly, we have not set any minimum requirements, but (some of) the following qualifications and experience would be a benefit:

Energy management
Energy efficiency auditing
Carbon accounting
Building certifications such as LEED, BREAM, or WELL for existing buildings in operation
Certifications from IEMA, ISSP, ACCO, AEE, Carbon Trust, etc.
Knowledge of certification systems such as CDP, EcoVadis, B Corp, ISO14001 or similar
Environmental science diploma or similar
Social value frameworks e.g. TOMS
Business development and bidding
