Job Title: Health & Safety Coordinator

Location: Warrington, with occasional UK travel – 12 month fixed term role (potential to review)
Salary Equivalent: DOE
Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose of the Role

The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the achievement of excellent safety management by providing professional support to the Health & Safety team. The role will focus on driving effective management of health & safety requirements and ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory regulations, as well as the company’s own H&S procedures.

Key Responsibilities

H&S Strategy & Continuous Improvement:
Assist the H&S Team in the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Health & Safety strategy and objectives.
Reporting & Data Analysis:
Support the H&S Director in compiling and issuing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, including the publication of H&S statistics to the Group. Help with the collation, analysis, and reporting of H&S-related data to drive continuous performance improvement.
Site Inspections & Audits:
Provide H&S assurance support through site inspections and audits of fixed manufacturing facilities and projects.
Coordination of H&S Monitoring:
Manage the H&S team’s monitoring schedule, including audits, inspections, and follow-ups.
ISO 45001 Support:
Assist in the continual assessment and recertification process for ISO 45001.
System and Process Improvement:
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the company’s H&S management systems and processes.
H&S Initiatives and Project Compliance:
Support the development and implementation of H&S initiatives, ensuring projects comply with H&S requirements.
Project-based Administration Support:
Provide administrative support to project-based H&S Advisors to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
PQQ and Tender Support:
Act as the primary point of contact for gathering information to support the development of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and tender submissions.
Internal Forums & Collaboration:
Assist in the facilitation of internal H&S forums and working parties to encourage collaboration and shared learning.
Digital Transformation:
Support the development and implementation of the H&S digital transformation.
Toolbox Talks & Alerts:
Compile, format, and distribute Toolbox Talks, Alerts, and Bulletins to ensure timely communication of H&S matters.
Award & Membership Submissions:
Support the preparation and submission of awards and membership applications related to health and safety.
Shared H&S Inbox Management:
Oversee the management and response to the Shared H&S inbox to ensure queries and requests are handled efficiently.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, have experience in data analysis, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively across teams and with senior management. You will have excellent organisational skills and a keen attention to detail, as well as the ability to communicate and influence others.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential Skills

Strong working knowledge of relevant statutory and legislative health and safety regulations.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with civil claims and insurance processes.
Knowledge of QA systems and compliance.
Well-developed people management and communication skills, including the ability to lead, coach, and develop staff.

Desirable Skills

Strong negotiating and influencing abilities.
Proven track record in delivering Health and Safety services within the Engineering or Construction industry.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to liaise effectively at all levels of the organisation and with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 award (e.g. NCRQ Safety for Managers) – Desirable.
ISO 45001 Internal Auditor qualification – Desirable.
Willingness to work towards relevant qualifications if not already held.

Special Features

The role will be based in Warrington, with occasional travel and time spent away from home, as site operations are undertaken throughout the UK.
