The Role
My client is recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Manager to oversee its energy assets, including CCGT, CHP and AD power stations. The successful candidate will provide leadership in all aspects of maintenance, production, and contract management to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the assets. This role is essential for maximising profitability while ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, including health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Conduct all required environmental and emissions reporting.
Ensure adherence to industrial licensing and environmental permits.
Promote a culture of safety through proactive initiatives and regular risk assessments.
Maintain and regularly review emergency response plans.
Oversee all operational aspects, including performance optimization, efficiency improvements, and plant flexibility.
Ensure the successful integration of major plant modifications.
Establish maintenance priorities and coordinate equipment downtime.
Ensure assets are operated in a manner that maximizes commercial availability and efficiency.
Lead and develop the O&M team to ensure high performance and succession planning.
Foster a culture of performance and accountability.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key contractors and stakeholders.
Support the development and execution of business plans to achieve strategic goals.
Work closely with trading teams to optimize asset scheduling and availability.
Manage and optimize O&M and long-term service agreements.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required

Experience in an Operations or Maintenance Management role within the power generation industry.
Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
Strategic thinker with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Strong relationship management skills across a wide range of stakeholders.
Thorough understanding of the commercial environment in the power generation sector.
Proven ability to analyse complex data and drive operational improvements.
Adaptability to change and a continuous improvement mindset.
Develop operational plans and set clear objectives for direct reports.
Establish performance plans aligned with business goals.
Guide the production and maintenance teams to achieve operational excellence.

Key Internal & External Relationships

Senior leadership team, trading, engineering, and operations teams.
Development and construction teams for integration of new assets.
Procurement teams for contract and framework agreements.
Grid operators, gas network providers, and regulatory bodies.
O&M suppliers and industry stakeholders.
Community and environmental bodies to maintain strong local engagement.

Minimum Criteria

Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
Significant experience in a senior operational or maintenance management role within power generation.
Proven leadership and change management experience.
