Due to award of long-term contracts with major energy clients our client is looking to hire Detailer/Draughtsperson to join the business.

This is a well-established and highly specialised engineering business known globally for its expertise in designing, assembling, and maintaining large-scale industrial systems used in the environmental and energy sectors. With a history spanning decades and a footprint across the UK, Europe, and North America, they have a strong pipeline of projects and a large, active installed base. Their UK operation is based in Leeds and houses a tight-knit engineering team working on high-value bespoke projects for customers around the world.

The Role
You’ll be joining the in-house design office as a Detailer/Draughtsperson, working alongside experienced engineers on technically interesting plant room layouts and associated systems.

Using SolidWorks daily, you’ll be producing detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings including mezzanine floors, ductwork, fabricated steel structures, machined parts, and pipework.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

* Creating accurate fabrication, layout, elevation, and assembly drawings

* Working closely with engineers to interpret designs and specifications

* Liaising with the production and build teams to ensure drawings are practical for manufacture and installation

* Reviewing drawings for accuracy, compliance, and completeness

* Keeping drawing records updated and documented

* Occasionally visiting construction sites or manufacturing facilities to support your work

The Person:

* Solid detailing/draughting experience—ideally 5+ years

* Proficiency in SolidWorks (with AutoCAD experience beneficial)

* A background in mechanical design, ideally with structures, ducting, or large mechanical plant equipment – mezzanine floors, access platforms, walkways, etc

* A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar (HNC, HND, or Degree)

* Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills

This would suit someone from a machinery, industrial plant, M&E, or structural detailing background who enjoys variety and technical challenge.

Package & Benefits

* Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)

* Holidays: 24 days + bank holidays, increasing annually up to 28 days

* Hours: 37.5 hours per week with flexible start/finish times (core hours 9am–3pm)

* Hybrid: 1 day a week work from home
