Civil Engineer (Housing Developer)
£50,000 - £70,000 plus car & bonus
Bury St Edmunds (Hybrid)

Working closely with the Engineering Manager, a typical day for you will include;

· Preparing constraints plans to be used as a guide for new developments proposals

· Assisting in the discharge of engineering related planning conditions

· Procuring service records and utilities enquiries for new developments

· Maintaining a continuous process of evaluation of consultant’s designs to ensure that proposals adhere to best practice in value engineering

· Undertaking site walkovers

· Appoint consultants and identify the scopes of work in line with programmes and budgets set by the business

· Attend project team meetings as engineering representative

· Arrange and review topographical surveys, geotechnical surveys (Phase I and II), flood risk assessments, transports surveys, etc.

· Appraise and comment on sites in regard to levels, earthworks and potential substructure solutions

· Liaise with utility companies in regard to existing utilities, new supplies, reinforcement and diversions

· Liaise with the local highway authorities and flood authorities as necessary

· Attend public exhibitions as engineering representative

· Understand and comment upon the health and safety, planning/S106 obligations or abnormals and financial constraints that may affect a potential site 

You’ll bring the following experience and skills to your new role:

· Minimum of 5 year’ experience

· Previous residential housing experience at either developer or consultancy, with a working knowledge of highways, drainage and utilities

· Ability to confidently handle negotiations with external parties, including consultants and local highway and flood authorities

· Team player that is able to communicate and coordinate effectively with members of multi-disciplined teams
