An excellent opportunity has arisen for a proactive and flexible individual to join the Consett Team at Airedale, part of the Modine Group as a Quality Manager reporting to the Plant Manager with a dotted line into the Head of Quality at Leeds. The role is pivotal to the success of our business in meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* This role will be key in driving down the cost of Quality at Consett and incorporate the Quality Management System (ISO9001) across the Plant, implementing and managing a ‘Quality Improvement Plan’.
* Maintaining a safe workspace and good housekeeping standards.
* Recognise the ‘Voice of the Customer’ in everything we do by contributing to a proactive and preventive quality improvement culture, underpinned by the spirit of continuous improvement.
* Develop and Manage the Quality Management System. Liaise with Leeds Quality Team to ensure synergy across sites.
* Driving down ‘Cost of Quality’ across the business including internal quality, warranty and reliability costs.
* Act as a ‘change agent’ to actively support the business with a strong focus on developing a proactive and preventive quality improvement culture and mindset across the business.
* Manage and develop the ‘CAR’ process. Ensuring that internal quality problems and customer concerns are fully investigated using recognised problem solving tools and techniques (e.g. Cause and Effect Analysis, 5 Why) to identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Verification of SOMs
* Strong working relationship with other departments including Manufacturing, Technical Support, Service, Product Development, Customer Service, R&D Test House, Sales and Purchasing.
* Ensuring Business & Departmental Quality reviews take place.
* Generating Customer reports related to Quality failures or concerns.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* Hold a higher education qualification applicable to a Quality Engineering role and/or demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Good communicator - confidently liaising with Team Leaders and departmental managers.
* Familiarity with root cause analysis or problem solving tools e.g. FMEA and DMAIC.
* Have skills and knowledge to encourage and implement change.
* Strong IT and analytical skills.
* Positive Attitude with a ‘can do’ mindset when faced with a quality challenge.
