Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Corbridge, Northumberland

Salary: £37,000 - £45,000 per annum

Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 08:00am - 16:00pm
Friday: 08:00am - 15:00pm
39 hours per week, with weekend cover and on-call rota participation.

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Role Overview:

We are seeking a time-served Mechanical Engineer with a solid industrial engineering background. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, repairs, and project work on large, high-speed rotating equipment. Experience with industrial boilers and steam systems is highly desirable, though training will be provided where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct maintenance, both reactive and proactive, on all mechanical plant and machinery.
Participate in project work, including installation and upgrades.
Perform repairs on high-speed rotating equipment, industrial boilers, and steam systems.
Provide weekend cover and participate in the on-call rota, which operates over a 6-week cycle.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.

Shifts and Pay:

Day Shift:

£18.30 per hour, equating to approximately £37,100 per year.

On-Call Rota:

Once on the rota, pay increases to £39,770 per year, with an additional £20 per night retainer during on-call weeks, plus mileage reimbursement.
Overtime is paid at 1.5x the hourly rate Monday to Saturday, and double time on Sundays.

Time-served Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in an industrial setting.
Experience with large, high-speed rotating equipment is essential.
