HGV Driver Coach / Trainer – National Company

Are you an experienced HGV driver with a passion for coaching and training others? We are looking for an HGV Driver Coach / Trainer to join a renowned national food production company in East London. As part of a dedicated team, you'll play a key role in developing and supporting our drivers to ensure high standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Driver Coaching & Training: Support the Driver Assessor in delivering ongoing training and coaching to delivery drivers, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of HGV vehicles.
* Focus Areas: Provide specific coaching on:
* Safe and fuel-efficient driving
* Tachograph usage and compliance
* Delivery point risk assessments
* Manual handling and handling diversions
* Satellite navigation and bridge strike awareness
* Assessment & Reporting:
* Conduct driver assessments, including route accompaniment and full written evaluations of driving behaviour and compliance.
* Ensure that all coaching sessions and assessments are fully documented and aligned with company standards.
* Compliance & Legal Obligations: Ensure drivers are trained on legal compliance and working within company SOPs, helping to reduce infringements and driver errors.
* Driver Induction & Continuous Support: Deliver induction training for new drivers and provide refresher courses as required. Offer 1:1 support to drivers on individual coaching needs.
* Accident Investigations: Assist with RTA investigations and help implement corrective actions where necessary.
Shift Pattern:
* Primarily Monday to Friday, with early starts (6am) and occasional weekends and nights as required.
* Dayshift predominately, but flexibility is needed for occasional early shifts to work with drivers.
Requirements:
* Essential: HGV Class 1 Licence (C+E)
* Experience: Minimum 5 years of driving experience, with a solid understanding of HGV operations and safety protocols.
* Training Background: Experience as a Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor, or Driving Instructor preferred.
* Skills & Knowledge:
* In-depth knowledge of tachograph systems, manual handling techniques, and driver compliance standards.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with strong attention to detail.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Reporting Structure:
* You will report directly to the Transport Manager, with additional support from the Transport Front Line Manager (FLM).
