Our Engineering Team is over 150 strong, from Apprentice Engineers through to Enterprise Architects, and we’re currently in an exciting period of growth! We provide clear career ladders for each employee to design the career they deserve with full training, support and mentoring from senior members of the team; if you’ve got the passion, enthusiasm, and desire to progress, then we will be with you every step of the way.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Technical Lead - DevOps to play a critical, hands-on role in designing, implementing and monitoring Microlise products. You will lead and deliver project work covering Windows Server, Active Directory, storage and computing across our data centre operations. As well as acting as a technical expert in a team delivering a software-defined data centre.

We know the importance of a good work/life balance, so offer flexible working opportunities with a low overtime culture; there’s a reason our average length of service is 7+ years! If you are looking for a new challenge and have a strong design background, then we want to hear from you!

What you will be doing:

* Act as the hands-on expert in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Active Directory, Windows Server, Storage Area Networks (SANs), bare metal servers and virtualisation.

* Provide the technical leadership to turn architectural plans into deliverable low-level designs and implementation plans.

* Provide the hands-on delivery of technical projects within the data centre environment.

* Coordinate with development teams to deliver a self-service DevOps experience.

* Analyse, diagnose and rectify complex faults in a complex operational environment.

* Provide advanced technical support for customer systems as required.

* Work with third party vendors to deliver platforms in an optimal, performant and scalable manner.

* Act as a medium for knowledge transfer between all parties, both external and internal.

* Be the hands-on expert in building our platform and capabilities.

What we’re looking for:

* Strong experience in automation of infrastructure, ideally using Powershell, Ansible and/or Terraform. GitOps should be a core part of your working experience.

* Deep Active Directory knowledge. You should know your Operations Masters from your Group Policy Objects and Domain Forests.

* Extensive experience with physical server hardware and associated storage networks. You should be comfortable designing, implementing and managing fleets of servers and SAN components.

* Proven ability in mentoring technical performance within a self-organising agile team, setting technical objectives, measuring progress, etc.
