About this client/child: Twin brothers, aged 17, live with their Mum in a beautiful home in the Cotswolds. They are really into sports, and great food! One twin plays football with a coach two to three times a week and both boys enjoy tennis. One twin especially loves to cook, and having a similar interest in cooking nutritious meals is essential. The brothers are not currently attending college, so their days will be structured and based around building up important life skills and physical activities. Both boys can present with behaviours that may challenge, so there will be times when they require space away from one another and quiet down time. Much of the time, however, is filled with fun, sporty activities outside the home, and creative confidence building activities at home.
Overview of role: This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional SEN Manny with experience supporting individuals, with Autistic Spectrum Condition, to join the twin’s household. The role requires flexibility, as the boys' needs change daily. The current arrangement involves working 4.5 days a week, with down time in the day, and occasionally covering 24-hour shifts once or twice a week, when their mother is away (notice given). You will also be expected to accompany the family during travel and work some weekends each month (2 at least). A strong background in supporting teenagers or young adults with neurological conditions is crucial, as the role focuses on fostering the boy’s life, independence, and functional skills. Promoting good nutrition is important, as well as encouraging them to participate in fun and stimulating activities, such as cooking classes and visits to water parks. Both boys attend regular Occupational Therapy sessions, so you will need to confidently liaise with their therapist and incorporate therapies into their daily routine. Experience with administering medication is also required, as the boys may need to take medication at some point. Adaptability is key, as their moods and energy levels can fluctuate, and plans may change at short notice. Your experience and proactive approach will be essential in gauging their individual needs as you build a strong, supportive relationship with them
