Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior/Principal Ecologist to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering high-profile projects, providing technical leadership, and supporting the growth and development of the ecology team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex ecological projects from inception to completion.
Provide technical expertise in biodiversity and protected species surveys.
Develop and implement ecological impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
Produce
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments
and develop on/off-site management plans and associated supporting documents to a very high standard.
Mentor and support junior ecologists, promoting their professional development.
Maintain and build strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, including EPS licensing, HRA, and Environmental Statement (ES) chapters.
Liaise with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and conservation organisations.
Stay current with industry developments, legislation, and best practices, especially regarding biodiversity net gain and the use of UK Habitats Classification System
(UK Habs)

Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Chartered status with CIEEM or eligibility to apply.
Extensive experience in ecological consultancy, including project management.
Demonstrable experience across a broad range of assessments for habitats and protected species.
Expertise in conducting and leading protected species surveys.
Proven ability to author higher-level reports such as EPS licensing, HRA, and ES chapters.
Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
Excellent grasp of evolving developments in biodiversity net gain and confidence using UK Habs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A valid UK driving license.
