We are partnering with a growing Multi-Disciplinary Design & Surveying Consultancy based in Ely, seeking to appoint a Building Surveyor.
This is an opportunity for a qualified Building Surveyor to join a dynamic team working on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning various sectors within the construction and design industry.
You will collaborate closely with clients to deliver projects to the highest standards, from conceptual design through to completion.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct detailed building surveys, prepare precise reports, identify defects, and provide remedial advice, including outlining potential financial implications.
Lead on design and specification for new builds, refurbishments, and restoration projects, ensuring client requirements and regulatory compliance are met.
Oversee projects from inception to completion, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
Offer expert advice on property legislation, building regulations, and health & safety standards.
Build strong client relationships, providing consultancy services and strategic guidance to help achieve their objectives.
Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and promoting the company's services to prospective clients.The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Building Surveying, ideally within a design consultancy environment, private sector, or local authority. They should demonstrate a combination of technical expertise and exceptional client-facing skills.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in design, project management, and client liaison within the construction and surveying sector.
Strong track record in client-facing roles, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Building Surveying or a related field from a recognised institution.
Associate/Chartered status or working towards accreditation with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building).
In-depth knowledge of building regulations, construction standards, and design principles.
Proficiency with industry-standard software and technology used for surveying and design.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to ongoing professional development.
