Technical Project Manager Surrey, UK

£75-85k + bonus + benefits

This role would suit a proven project manager with a strong technical background and excellent customer focused approach. As an influential leader, motivator and communicator, you will work proactively to deliver customer projects in a fast-paced electric vehicle technology company.

Location: Farnham, Surrey, UK.

As a technical customer focused project manager, you will liaise directly with the customer, managing key stakeholder relationships whilst balancing the delivery of technical engineering (electric vehicle) development projects by motivating and guiding multidisciplined automotive engineering teams.

* A degree or masters in a relevant engineering discipline would be very useful (e.g. automotive engineering, electronics, software engineering, etc)

* Strong communication skills in English – both written and spoken.

* A proactive approach to project management – making things happen, problem solving, etc.

* Excellent track record in customer management and facing within a similar role.

* Ideally at least 8 years of engineering experience which includes significant time within project management. This overall experience should have been gained within an electromechanical product design / development environment (ideally automotive, or similar).

* Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen. As well as handling technical project management tasks you will take the lead with all aspects of the project from definition, through business cases, to finance, etc.

Candidates that have worked within an engineering design or development role previously would have an advantage. E.g. Senior electronics engineer, engineering managers (leading teams), etc.

* Knowledge of electric vehicle powertrain systems would be very useful (e.g. motor, inverter, controller) – automotive, aerospace, marine, etc.

* Formal project management qualifications would be useful but are not essential.

* A good understanding of mechanical design, electronics design, power electronics, embedded software or control software would be useful.

* Experience of working effectively in a small / medium sized business environment in a similar customer project management experience would be great.

The company is involved with the design and manufacture of innovative electric vehicle powertrain systems for automotive electric vehicle applications. The company is small, growing and is a fast paced and high pressure engineering environment.

The role requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach to technical project management and excellent customer facing skills. In addition this technical project manager must be able to lead and motivate teams (matrix structure).

This Technical Project Manager role is commutable from Basingstoke, Alton, Farnham, Farnborough, Woking, Guildford, Petersfield, Camberley, and Winchester. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.
