Our client is an award winning remediation contractor who offers practical solutions for brownfield regeneration and contaminated land problems. By using their extensive in-house experience, they aim to provide an unrivalled service tailored to their client’s individual’s needs. To date, our client has successfully completed technical projects throughout the UK for local authorities, residential and commercial developers, main contractors and consultants either in the role of principal contractor or subcontractor which range from small spills through to large multi-technology soil and groundwater remediation / development platform preparation on brownfield sites.

Current turnover for this business stands at £4M however they are in a period of growth and they are owned by a larger group who turnover in excess of £45M. This contractor is dedicated to measuring and reducing their carbon footprint, which includes selecting the most sustainable remediation options on projects as well as company -wide initiatives such a recycling.

About the opportunity:

Due to company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Senior Environmental Engineer / Design Manager. As a Senior Environmental Engineer / Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of environmental remediation projects. This role involves developing innovative remediation strategies, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and managing project teams. You will also be expected to collaborate with clients, regulatory stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver effective and sustainable remediation solutions. This role therefore requires strong technical expertise and project management skills.

General duties will include but not be limited to the following:

* Develop comprehensive remediation designs and strategies for contaminated sites

* Prepare detailed Remediation Method Statement and other supporting documents

* Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates

* Support with the planning and management of remediation projects from conception to completion.

* Support developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

* Ensure all remediation activities comply with relevant UK environmental regulations and best practice.

* Provide technical guidance and oversight during remediation activities.

* Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies.

* Oversee the implementation of remediation systems and monitor their performance.

* Lead and mentor project team members and co-ordinate with sub-contractors to maintain quality standards.

My client is a fast growing and dynamic business that will provide you opportunities and structured support and training to grow your skills and knowledge in the remediation industry. Subject to your experience, you will be required to regularly visit active remediation/construction sites and sometimes spend time away from home. Other times you will be expected to work closely with junior and senior colleagues at their office in Bristol.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be degree qualified in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeological or relatable Civil Engineering/Engineering course. Furthermore, you must hold a minimum of 7 years experience in the remediation industry, with a minimum of 3 years design experience. Proficiency using GIS, AutoCAD and Risk Modelling packages will be advantageous.

Due to project locations, you must hold a full UK driving license and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the benefits and rewards:

For this opportunity, professionals can expected to earn anywhere between £45,000 - £52,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, a generous benefits package will be offered which includes an annual bonus scheme, 25 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays), a 5% employer pension contribution, the option to enrol in a healthcare benefits scheme, payment of professional membership fees, and support towards achieving professional qualifications.
