ROLE PURPOSE
To lead and manage a shift of up to 30 employees covering all site operational activities to achieve agreed output targets within set safety and quality standards and to ensure all customers receive their orders on time and in full, within cost plans.

* Responsible for all Production processes including on site quality, EHS and process improvements
* Deputise for the Production Manager/Business Manager
ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSBILITIES
* The physical completion of the GRP daily production schedule on the shop floor.
* The stock control of all GRP raw materials, including all 5 resin types, glass rovings, Glass mat, film and all chemical additives. This includes monthly stock takes and journal updates to D365 on behalf of the accounts department.
* The supervision of GRP resin deliveries, demonstrating compliance with our permit to operate under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2007.
* To place purchase orders for direct and indirect materials
* The stock control of all GRP consumables, including resin buckets, mixing buckets, talc, polyester thread, hands tools, PPE, and wipes etc.
* To ensure that all end of month stock takes are completed accurately, all works orders are completed in AX, that the ledger has been updated and you have communicated your position to the accounts department at the end of each month.
* The provision of holiday and absence cover for Supervisors, Team Leaders and operators in the GRP department.
* The production of GRP sheet to agreed tolerances and specifications, with minimal excess metres trim and blank film.
* The prevention of sub standard GRP sheet being released for dispatch
* The day to day supervision, training and development of the GRP operating team.
* The induction, training and initial supervision of temporary operators.
* To maintain a record of all PPE issued to operators and temporary operators that work in your department
* To process valley orders from Ariel plastics on a weekly basis and ensure that goods are ready for the required by date where possible.
* To over see and monitor the performance of the valley sanding production area using KPI’s, keeping set up time, and unplanned downtime to a minimum.
* To make sure all operations and operators are compliant with current Health and Safety legislation at all times.
* To make sure all operations and operators are compliant with ISO 9001 and the quality management system.
* To set a high standard of conduct by acting as a role model to operators, and to ensure that policies and standards are maintained at all times. To make sure that any disciplinary issues are recorded and dealt with appropriately.
* To conduct employee reviews and regular 1:1’s with operators that report directly to you, and ensure that they have current SMART objectives that relate to departmental objectives and personal development.
* Communicate and gain feedback on KPI’s and general performance at weekly team meetings.
* The reduction of customer complaints with a root-cause location of the GRP department.
* The recording and reporting of machine faults in the department and working with the engineering department to prioritise the workload.
* Management and maintenance of the 5S program.
* Achievement of cost savings by using continuous improvement and problem solving tools and techniques.
* To be a point of production reference during the development of new products and to use your knowledge and experience to develop and improve the manufacturing techniques and features of our existing products.
* To work with the other GRP supervisors to produce a departmental operations plan at the start of each year that cascades the objectives of the company business plan and the industrial rooflight operations plan, along with your own objectives and plans to your department.
* The maintenance of the skill verification sheets of operators that report to you, and the accurate display of their current skills on the departmental skills matrix
* To monitor operator skill level and inform your manager if you feel that an operator that reports to you has completed their current set of skill verification sheets and is due for a promotion
